The Carbon Trust is providing farmers with the opportunity to obtain unsecured, interest-free loans for energy-efficient equipment.
From 1 February 2010 farmers will be able to apply for funding ranging from £3,000 to £20,000 to purchase energy efficient equipment such as:
o Thermal screens used in greenhouse horticulture.
o New milk cooling systems.
o Grain drying humidity controls.
o Heating and ventilation controls within livestock buildings.
It is understood the Carbon Trust will make up to £12m worth of loans available on a first come, first served basis. This funding will not only benefit many farm businesses in the country, but will have considerable benefits to the environment in terms of cutting the greenhouse gas omissions that are produced in the agriculture sector.
Robinson & Hall are involved in various agricultural building projects and are always encouraging clients to use modern, environmentally friendly equipment in any building. These Carbon Trust loans will allow clients to consider these technologies in future building projects.
