Refurbished Arcade Proves Popular

Fri 09 Jul 2010

Working on behalf of Martin Hay, Director of Metropolitan and County Group, Robinson & Hall LLP has recently successfully project managed the refurbishment of the prominent Church Arcade in the heart of Bedford. The refurbishment of the Arcade included the relaying of the Arcade floor, re-cladding, re-glazing and the provision of new lighting, signage and an entrance canopy as a focal point for the entrance to the Arcade.

David Sawford at Robinson & Hall LLP commented on the success of the project so far “We are delighted to be involved in the refurbishment of a prominent part of the town centre shopping area and are very pleased with the improvements that the alterations have made to the street scene”.

Robinson & Hall LLP were brought on board after planning permission was granted for the works. The team at Robinson & Hall LLP adapted the scheme to suit the client’s requirements and secured planning permission for the revised scheme. The works were project managed from inception to completion by Robinson & Hall LLP and were importantly completed on budget.

David continues “The project was very challenging as the Arcade had to be kept open for business during trading hours and is not wide enough to separate off the works area. The refurbishment has been carefully co-ordinated with the Landlords, tenants, builders and other interested parties to avoid disruption, and the works were predominantly carried out through the night”.

Robinson & Hall LLP have marketed the premises and the first two units have let quickly following the works. Simon Patrick from Robinson & Hall LLP’s Commercial Property Services department commented that “we expect the last two units in the refurbished Arcade to let quickly. The units provide potential tenants with prominent premises in the heart of Bedford, with unprecedented foot traffic passing their frontage, and that the entrance appearance has helped enquiries and letting”.
