Single Payment Scheme 2013 or even 2014

The current Single Payment Scheme which was meant to be with us until the end of 2012 looks increasingly likely to continue into 2013 with some commentators now talking even about 2014.  By 2012 all English farmers will be on a flat rate area basis of approximately €320 a hectare before modulation.  The current modulation rates are set until 2012 but if the scheme does carry on for an additional year or even two years then these may be reviewed upwards but claimants are still likely to receive a higher payment than whatever replaces it in the future.

The Rural Land Register is continuing to work on maps from the mapping update which was started 12 months ago and if you receive any maps through even at this very busy time of the year then please do find the time to check them carefully.  These maps are hugely important and it is extremely important to check the detail of them not just that you may at last have all your fields on your maps.  All maps should be completed by the end of October though we will wait to see if this deadline is met.
